Chhattisgarh State Electricity Regulatory Commission Office
Chhattisgarh State Electricity Regulatory Commission (CSERC) Office Building is the first sustainable building of state covering an area 2400m² is located at Shanti Nagar, Raipur, Chhattisgarh. Mr. Tara Dhal, architect of the building in conjugation with Chhattisgarh State Renewable Energy Development Agency has applied green building concept in design and construction of the building.
Following are the main attributes of the building adopted to reduce the environmental impacts:
- Reduction in energy consumption through modulation of orientation, optimization of building envelope, wall & roof insulation, natural day lighting, solar passive technique, installation of energy efficient gadgets & equipments, onsite energy generation via grid interactive Solar Power Plant of 80 kw.
- Onsite water reduction through roof top water rain water harvesting, zero water discharge (except surface rain water).
- Use of low-energy/waste for construction.
- Use of local available materials in construction.
In India CSERC is first Net plus Energy building accolade with 5 star rating from Bureau of Energy & Efficiency, India Tech Award 2012 as Energy Efficient building of India, HUDCO Award for best environmental practices and energy conservation.
Aman Singh Chairman, Chhattisgarh New And Renewable Energy Corporation has stated in The New India Express dated 22nd June 2014 that conventional energy sources are used minimally in this building. In effect it negates our dependence on thermal energy and at the same time it gives an opportunity to have a very negligible carbon footprint. It is a very prudent investment.
