SWAMINARYAN AKSHARDHAM, New Delhi
Akshardham is a unification of two words ‘Akshar’ means eternal and ‘Dham’ means adobe. It is a religious monument that depicts Hindu and Indian culture, projecting the attributes of spirituality and yoga, ancient art and architecture, modern science and technology, knowledge and education. The design and the structure is the fusion of various architectural concepts and styles across the India. It is the integrated efforts of infinite devotees. Akshardham is skillfully and marvelously crafted in Rajasthan pink stone and White marble stone epitomizing decades of India heritage through its mandir, exhibitions, verdant gardens, musical fountain and other attractions. It also showcases the integrated approach towards spirituality and life by renowned personalities from different sects of the world.
Brahmaswarup Maharaj Yogi was the founder and the plan leader behind this sacred complex. His wish was fulfilled by his successor Pramukh Swami Maharaj (the spiritual head of Bochasanwasi Akshar Purusottum Swaminarayan Sanstha) who took the pledge for foundation and building of Akshardham. The Akshardham complex was built in a span of five years. Construction began on 8th Nov 2005 and the Akshardham was officially opened on 6th Nov 2010.
Akshardham covers 30 acres area near the bank of Yamuna River in Delhi. It is located on National Highway 24, Near Noida Mor, New Delhi, India.
