The EIACP Programme Centre Resource Partner on Human Settlements and Their Impacts on the Environment, supported by Ministry of Environment & Forests and Climate Change, Govt. of India, has been placed with the Department of Environmental Planning, SPA New Delhi since 1993.

The School of Planning and Architecture had a modest beginning in 1941 as a Department of Architecture of Delhi Polytechnic. It was later affiliated to the University of Delhi and integrated with the School of Town and Country Planning which was established in 1955 by the Government of India to provide facilities for rural, urban and regional planning. On integration, the School was renamed as School of Planning and Architecture in 1959.

Aims And Objectives

  • To Create a database concerning Human Settlements.
  • To Collate and Disseminate information on Human Settlements.
  • To Provide information on Human Settlements to the users.
  • Capacity Building and infrastructure in the field of Human Settlements.
  • To Publish Newsletter, Journals and other material in printed and electronic media on Human Settlements.
  • To Implement policies, Programmes and instructions of the ministry of Environment and Forests related to EIACP.

Activities of EIACP Centre

  • Organization and Coordination of Seminars / Workshops on Human Settlements.
  • Collection, Processing, Documentation and Dissemination of data pertaining to Human Settlements.
  • Publication of the EIACP Journal for Human Settlements.

  • General Characteristics (Location, Land use, Population).
  • Ecological Attributes (Terrain-relief and drainage; Bed rock type; Surface water bodies; Ground water Soil type; Vegetation Open spaces)
  • Pollution (Air, Noise, Water)
  • Infrastructure (Water supply, Sanitation, Solid waste)
  • Specialized Subjects (Application of ISO 14000, Disaster management)
